Designed by custom integration specialists for custom integration professionals, HEOS Drive HS2 is a unique 4 zone whole home audio distribution system with 8 channels of Class D amplification, all in a 2RU single chassis that features both Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital+ decoding with stereo downmixing.

Rated at 60 watts per channel into each of the 8 channels (20Hz~20kHz, .05% THD, 8 ohms, All Channels Driven), 1 or 2 stereo amp pairs can be bridged for single channel high power output (130 watts), and the HEOS Drive HS2 features low impedance drive capability (4 ohms).

Each zone features a stereo pair of pre-amp outputs, and each zone can be configured for stereo or mixed mono output. The matrix switching system features 2 optical digital inputs, 2 coaxial digital inputs and 4 analog stereo inputs, any of which can be assigned to any zone, and every zone features a dedicated USB port for connection to an external USB drive.

Equipped to handle virtually any combination of speaker configurations, HEOS Drive HS2 features built-in DSP high pass/low pass filters – set any output to full range, subwoofer or satellite speaker modes, with adjustable crossover points.

The speaker outputs feature 4-way binding posts that are compatible with banana plug terminations, and there are 4 12V trigger outputs. The chassis features quiet fan cooling for long term stability and operational reliability.

Dual RJ-45 Ethernet LAN ports are provided, for connection to the network and sharing the internet connection with other devices, and HEOS Drive HS2 is 3rd party control compatible.

HEOS Drive HS2 comes with removable feet and attachable rack ears, allowing rack or shelf placement.

Current Feedback Discrete Power Amplifier

This model is equipped with a current feedback amplifier section that uses the same push-pull circuit found in Marantz’s SM-11S1 Hi-Fi power amplifier. This amp is designed to provide increased operating stability, high-speed, and wide ranging high-density playback. The current/voltage conversion amplification section in the latter part of the power amp is equipped with a Wilson current mirror circuit that amplifies to the high sound range with low distortion.

Large Toroidal Power Transformer

The high power, high current power supply features a massive toroidal power transformer that can handle substantial short term power peaks. The high capacity power supply capacitors, 100,000µ total, contribute to the amplifier’s ability to deliver short term bursts of power when needed, which is helpful when driving difficult-to-drive lower impedance speakers.

High-Quality Design

This amplifier is equipped with a chimney-shaped heat sink to efficiently process the heat emitted from each channel along with quiet cooling fans. A high-sensitivity temperature sensor IC is used to control the cooling fans, adjusting the rotation speed to match the amount of heat generated by the amp.

Balanced and Unbalanced Inputs

For installation flexibility and maximum compatibility, each channel on this amplifier is equipped with balanced and unbalanced inputs.

Custom Installation-Ready

This amplifier has an IR flash input that supports custom installations and DC trigger input and output terminals.

Remote Power Control

When the Marantz AV8801 or AV7701 pre-amplifier is connected to the MM8077, the remote power control feature links the power on/off function of the pre-amplifier to the MM8077.

Low-Power Standby Mode

For environmental and energy-saving considerations, power consumption during standby mode has been reduced to less than 0.4 W

Auto-Standby Mode

The MM8077 automatically switches to standby mode when there has been no signal for 30 minutes. This prevents power from being wasted whenever you forget to turn the power off.

Fully Discrete Current Feedback Power Amplifier

Current Feedback amplification is designed to match the requirements of Super Audio hi-res music for wide-bandwidth, high-speed reproduction. The impedance at the Current Feedback point is limited, generating a low phase shift, and feedback amplifiers reduce the need for phase compensation by minimizing negative feedback (NFB). This helps simplify the signal path, resulting in a high through-rate, enhanced transient response, and augmented sonic transparency across the full bandwidth. Current Feedback renders the amplifier nearly immune to difficult speaker loads.

HDAM-S3 Technology

Hyper-Dynamic Amplifier Modules (HDAMs) are discrete circuit boards engineered with discrete surface mount components with short mirror-image left and right signal paths to outperform Op-amps in slew rate and noise level for more dynamic, accurate, detailed sound.

Toroidal Transformer

The toroidal transformer is designed to offer enhanced efficiency and power capability, with low EM radiation and mechanical vibration for augmented sound quality.

Separate Power Supply for Standby Mode

In order to reduce power consumption in standby mode, the PM7000N uses separate power supply circuits. While in standby, the digital SMPS power supply is active, so the network can wake up the amplifier. When switching to operation mode, the SMPS power is switched off and the toroidal transformer is activated to supply the necessary current to drive your speakers.

The electric volume control uses Marantz HDAM technology to augment its channel separation, dynamic range, S/N ratio, linearity, and distortion reduction, while retaining the operational feel of an analog volume control.
